Do Good this #GivingTuesday
Sometimes we need a little motivation to do the right thing.
It’s not that we don’t have the ability to do good but rather need a reminder, some guidance, or to be pointed in the right direction. That’s why I love when #GivingTuesday rolls around and gently nudges us to GIVE. It is a day to donate to a cause you deem worthy. You can give to a local non-profit like Independent Arts and Media which helps support the arts in the bay area or one half way around the world. Doesn’t matter as long as it matters to you!
And now more than ever, it’s easier to make a charitable contribution with Facebook fundraising, text donations and apps like Purposity that make connecting and donating a sinch.
According to MarketWatch, “Facebook’s fundraising features, for example, have helped raise more than $1 billion on the social network for nonprofit and personal causes” the article also mentions the ease and rising popularity of text donations, “Text-to-give donations are also making participation easier. Network for Good, which offers fundraising software and services for nonprofits, reported that while only 4% of donations were made from mobile phones in 2013, that climbed to 14% last year.”
Sounds like the business of giving just got a whole lot simpler! No more excuses. It’s time to give.
In the wake of recent tragedies like the gassing of asylum seekers at the border and natural disasters such as the Paradise fire, you may be feeling overwhelmed and a little helpless. You might be asking yourself, “how will my tiny effort matter?” And you’re right to feel this way. Alone we don’t amount to much but together our collective effort can make a real impact. So, yes your contribution matters. Duh. Every act of generosity is of value! No matter how big or small. So do it.
